    Description
Summary submitted by senior author Bethan Morgan: "This article summarises, for a lay audience, some of the outreach work that we have been conducting to increase conservation awareness and action around the gorilla habitat in the Ebo forest over the past year or so. It includes local actions, such as partnering with primary schools in basic conservation awareness, and supporting small-scale and sustainable livelihood amelioration activities in villages. It also details activities to target the wider population, such as through organising the annual 'Gorilla Cup' soccer tournament (complete with a 'real' Ebo gorilla as mascot!), as well as a weekly radio broadcast which reaches a significant proportion of the regional population. Perhaps just as importantly, the article's first author is our most senior francophone staff member. The writing of this paper is part of his continuing education - an important long-term goal of the Central Africa Program. Available in English, French and German.
